Versiona Thyssen 2020
A young competition that plays with concepts and experimentation.
Client: Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza
National Museum Thyssen Bornemisza came to us with the need of a graphic system for their event: Versiona Thyssen. A youth competition that proposes to make versions of some of their most famous pieces with no restrictions in terms of technique: from photography, to 3D, performance, painting, etc.
Our main goal was to create a system that helped the museum to visually communicate with a younger approach to a target between 17 to 35 years old.
In 2020, we kept the premise of making tuned versions of famous paintings and we decided to enhance the digital essence of the project. Glitch, dissolution effects and random distortions melted the paintings revealing their original version at the end of each animation.
In the year in which COVID-19 hits the world, the organization was urged to cancel the live events. We brainstorm an alternative solution for the awards ceremony. Moving to a live event on social media was a huge challenge, we went live simultaneously on Youtube, Facebook and Instagram.
We planned a ceremony with a host presenting and announcing the winners, interviewing guests and closing with a music concert. The online version gave us the opportunity to brand all the videos with Versiona Thyssen’s graphic system enhancing the visual consistency of the project.
